Abu Dhabi Encourages Oil Trade Resumption Post US-Iran Agreement

by admin477351

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has announced that its customers can once again load crude oil shipments from its facilities located on Das and Zirku islands in the Persian Gulf. This decision follows improved conditions in the region, attributed to the recent agreement between the United States and Iran, which has eased concerns about potential disruptions to maritime traffic through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

ADNOC emphasized that crude oil has been available for loading since April 27, and it cautioned customers that neglecting to collect scheduled shipments could result in a breach of their contractual commitments. For those buyers encountering difficulties with shipping logistics, ADNOC has offered support through its fleet of tankers or those of its affiliates, highlighting the company’s commitment to maintaining a stable supply chain.

This development is part of a broader effort by Gulf oil producers to return to regular export operations after facing various regional disruptions. ADNOC, known for being one of the region’s most active exporters, has continued to be a major player in the market, having already sold tens of millions of barrels through tenders.

The United Arab Emirates is also taking steps to diversify its export routes to lessen its dependence on the Strait of Hormuz. The nation is fast-tracking infrastructure projects, including the expansion of pipeline capacity to the port of Fujairah located on the Gulf of Oman. This expansion aims to facilitate more crude exports that avoid the heavily trafficked Strait, thereby enhancing the resilience of the UAE’s oil export strategy.
