Apple has unveiled a significant partnership with Broadcom, committing over $30 billion to produce more than 15 billion chips within the United States. This move underscores Apple’s strategy to bolster domestic semiconductor manufacturing and enhance its American supply chain.

This investment is a key component of Apple’s expansive plan to establish a U.S.-centric chip ecosystem, encompassing both design and production. The initiative is projected to create numerous jobs while ramping up the production of cutting-edge wireless technologies integral to Apple devices.

Under the terms of the agreement, Broadcom will allocate $1.5 billion to upgrade and expand its Fort Collins, Colorado facility. This facility will focus on producing advanced radio frequency (RF) components, such as FBAR filters, which are essential for improving wireless performance and connectivity in Apple products.

Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized that the partnership is a testament to Apple’s enduring commitment to American manufacturing and innovation. He highlighted that the sophisticated components manufactured in Colorado will be crucial in providing the performance and wireless features that Apple customers anticipate.

Cook further expressed Apple’s pride in expanding its investment in U.S.-based suppliers dedicated to advanced technology and high-quality manufacturing. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan also welcomed the expanded collaboration, aligning with Apple’s dedication to enhancing American innovation and manufacturing. This agreement is part of Apple’s previously announced $600 billion U.S. investment plan, which includes increasing manufacturing capabilities, developing AI server facilities in Texas, and generating additional high-skilled employment opportunities nationwide.
